FIRE RUMORS ON PRESIDENTIAL BANANA FACTORY WERE FALSE—RDC

IN BUSHENYI
Deputy RDC Bushenyi district, Damiano Turyatunga has assured the residents of Bushenyi and other farmers from nearby districts that rumors which went round yesterday evening that the Banana factory worth billion of shillings under [PIBID] was burnt were false.
“Presidential initiative on banana industrial development was not burnt by fire as rumors had spread around last evening but we found out that instead it was a Nyaruzinga swamp where National Water Bushenyi Area gets water from that was burnt.
He further said that the police fire brigade from greater Bushenyi region managed to put out the fire that was proceeding towards the factory and National water Reservoir.
Deputy RDC together with DISO Capt. Paddy Baguma warned people in that area to stop burning of bushes and forests which provide water and protect the environment.
The deputy RDC, deputy DISO and the DISO rushed to Nyaruzinga where the factory is situated after being informed that the factory was set ablaze.
Deputy RDC told www.mknewslink.com editor that the factory which is the largest and the first of its kind in Africa is under construction and will start processing bananas into powder and then exported to other countries all over the world soon.
