FORMER IGP GENERAL KAYIHURA TO APPEAR IN COURT MARTIAL FOR THE FIRST TIME

General Kale Kayihura will make his first appearance at the General Court Martial in Makindye today.
General Kayihura’s lawyers led by Joseph Matsiko, Elson Karuhanga, Peter Kabatsi and Jet Tumwebaze are already on the scene.
General’s relatives including his son clad in black t-shirts with inscriptions that read, “We Stand with General Kale Kayihura,” are also making their way into the barracks where the court sits.
There is visibly heightened security deployment at the facility.
General Kayihura the longest serving IGP, was dropped as Inspector General of Police by President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, March 05, 2018 after nearly thirteen years at the helm of the police body.
He was succeeded by John Martin Okoth Ochola his former deputy.
On June 13, 2018, Kayihura was arrested from Lyantonde ending months of speculation. General Kayihura’s arrest was effected by the deputy chief of Defence Forces Lt. General Wilson Mbadi.
