FORMER KANUNGU LC III CHAIRMAN PERISHES IN ACCIDENT

Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances under which a former chairperson LC III for Kirima sub-county died in the motor accident at Nyakatare along Kanungu Kihihi road in Kanungu district.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson identified the deceased as Caleb Turyahikayo Kamashaka 57 year old resident of Katwa cell Kirima sub county Kanungu district.

Maate said that the accident happened when the deceased who was driving a motor vehicle registration number UAT 934E T from Kanungu heading to Kihihi side failed to negotiate a corner at Nyagatare, and it overturned killing him on spot.

Police visited the scene, body was taken to Katate health Centre IV for postmortem, and vehicle towed to Kanungu CPS pending inspection.

The case of road accident has since been registered at Kanungu central Police station under reference number TAR 09/2022.
