FORMER KISIIZI HOSPITAL FINANCE MANAGER CHARGED WITH THEFT OF 1.23B UGX

A former finance manager at Kisiizi hospital in Rukungiri has been charged at the Anti-Corruption Court with theft of Shs 1.23 billion.
Ronnie Okello Ameri is accused of stealing the money while working as Finance manager at the Church of Uganda Managed hospital found in Rukingiri District.
Investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) indicate that Ameri created fake invoices, and issued them to ghost drug companies.
Charles Twiine, the CID spokesperson, said whereas the hospital had initially accused the suspect of stealing over Shs 3.5b, their investigations only linked him to Shs 1.23b.
He added that the crime was committed between 2019 and 2021, adding that the case file has been sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions Jane Francis Abodo pending hearing at the Anti-Corruption Court.
Prior to his current job, Ameri worked as a Property Accountant at Knight Frank Uganda, Graphic and Accountant at Movit Products Limited Graphic, Modern Lane Limited Graphic and Kampala Motors Limited.
He also served as a Program Finance and Administration officer at Consumer Education Trust Uganda Graphic.
Kisiizi Hospital was founded by missionary John Sharp in 1958 and was later taken over by the North Kigezi Diocese of the Church of Uganda.
