Ambassador Deo K. Rwabiita who worked as a government Minister, Member of Parliament for Ibanda South and Ambassador to Italy died from Kirudi ward which is part of Mulago hospital around 10.30Pm last night .
According to his elder brother Dr. Francis Gratian Rushambuza who lives in Nyabuhikye sub county in Ibanda district, says that his brother Deo. Rwabiita was born in 1943 in Ibanda district, Western Uganda and died at the age of 74 years.
He explained that Ambassador Rwabiita graduated with a B.Com .Degree in marketing from Nairobi University, . He first worked as a businessman before joining politics. Dr. Rushambuza added that Mr. Rwabiita was a constituent assembly representative and later became Member of Parliament representing Ibanda south.
Mr. Rwabiita was appointed as a Minister of Rehabilitation in the present government and later was appointed to work as ambassador to Rome in Italy based under United Nations Agency for food and agriculture and also worked as an ambassador in Germany.
Rwabiita has left behind five children of whom two are boys and three girls and one wife Mrs. Connie Rwabiita.
One of his longest best friend, Mr. David Bigira, the LC 5 councillor for elderly people, Ibanda district, told www.mknewslink.com reporter he was a hard working leader who changed the lives of the people of Ibanda.
Mr. Bigira added that ambassador Rwabiita has helped many students to give them scholarships to go for higher education, helped the needy ones and assisted many people to start developmental projects and built many schools, government health facilities and facilitated many churches of Anglican faith ,Catholics and Muslims.
Mr. Bigira who was attached too much for losing a close friend, said Mr. Rwabiita was trustworthy, with focus on developmental projects, a writer of many novels on political accountability, and incorruptible many. He was not secretarian, but died as a poor man
Dr. Rushambuza said that the cause of death off Mr.Rwabiita has not yet been known but the family is waiting a medical report from Mulago hospital. When this reporter visited his place at Kyaruhimbi village in Nyabuhikye sub county, a number of mourners especially relatives and friends had gathered.
