FORMER MINISTER KABAFUNZAKI’S WIFE SWEATS PLASMA AS COURT GRILLS HER TO PRODUCE ON BAIL-HUSBAND

In Kampala—
It was a hard moment for the wife of former State Minister for Labour, Herbert Kabafunzaki, Ms Doreen Kabafunzaki as she was grilled on Friday last week by the Anti-Corruption Court tasking her to unveil the whereabouts of her husband who has snubbed court ever since he was given bail.
Arrested in 2017 on accusations of milking Shs5m bribe from Hamid Mohammad Mohammad, Aya Hotel owner (now Pearl of Africa Hotel), Kabafunzaki was arrested but later applied for bail presenting his wife Doreen Kabafunzaki among others as the sureties.
However, ever since the bail was granted to him, he has allegedly disappeared from not only court but also the public with fellow suspects; Brian Mugabo, his personal assistant, and Bruce Lubowa, his cousin, whom court said have gone into hiding mode for almost two years now.
It is worth noting that this year in March, the Anti-Corruption court was forced to give strict orders to the Police to arrest and produce Kabafunzaki in court something that has since not yielded any result.
Justice Margaret Tibulya ordered for the re-arrest of Kabafunzaki to complete his pending corruption trial before the Anti-Corruption Court after he (Kabafunzaki) failed to show up in court for the second time.
In 2017, Kabafunzaki who was then junior minister for Labour was recorded on camera allegedly picking a bribe of Shs5m from Hamid Mohammad Mohammad, Aya Hotel owner (now Pearl of Africa Hotel) to help clear him of sexual harassment accusations.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with corruption offences along with his personal assistant Bruce Lubowa
