FORMER MISS UGANDA JOINS RUKUNGIRI WOMAN MP SEAT RACE

Following an announcement by the Electoral Commission to conduct the
by- election for the vacant seat of Woman Member of Parliament in
Rukungiri district, several women have expressed their interest in the
seat.
Hon. Winfred Komuhangi Masiko of NRM, whose election was nullified by the Court of Appeal on March 22nd 2018, is top on the list to reclaim her seat; Betty Muzanira of Forum for Democratic change who successfully sued Masiko in court is already set to capture the seat.

Others include Sheillah Kirebete from Nyarushanje sub county ,former
Miss Uganda Praise Asiimwe Akankwasa and Elizabeth Kyoshaba Mutemba both from Buyanja sub county all that intend to contest as
independents.

Betty Muzanira has assured her supporters that she will this time
totally defeat her challengers.
In a survey conducted by www.mknewslink.com indicates; that the NRM bigwigs are already on the ground within the district to ensure that NRM retakes the seat; but most voters said that the election is mayhem and they will vote for someone who will serve them the best.
However, the majority of voters are angry with Hon. Winfred Masiko for voting ‘yes ‘ during the Presidential age limit debate they had
told her to vote ‘ No’.
The electoral commission has set 31st May this year for Rukungiri Woman Member of Parliament bye- election.
