FORMER RUKUNGIRI LC5 BOSS REJECTS PROCESS TO ELECT NEW BISHOP OF NORTH KIGEZI DIOCESS

The Former LC5 chairperson Rukungiri District Andrewson Charles Katebire has expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing process for the election of the new Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese
Katebire was on saturday officiating at a Thanksgiving function organised by Atweta Dickens at Rwobuyojwa church of Uganda, Kyaruyenje parish, Buhunga Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese.
Atweta Dickens is the lay leader at Rwobuyojwa church of Uganda and he was commissioned into service on 5th Nov 2022 by the North Kigezi Caretaker Bishop Patrick Tugume Tusingwire at Kyàmakanda Bible College.
Katebire Andrewson Charles noted that Christians from Rujumbura constituency are unhappy the way members of clergy hailing from the area are being left out of the committees handling the election of the new Bishop.
He says that the process is driven by politics in this will affect believers in the area.
He noted that members of the clergy who were close to the late Bishop Benon Magezi who succumbed to covid in 2021 have been deliberately sidelined from the process.
Katebire emphasized that they are not happy with that sub counties in Rujumbura county are not represented on the committee that was selected to participate in the lection of the new Bishop and church leaders from the area are being sidelined from the process and other church roles
He requested that the church leadership treats all Christians equally for the good of the church
The Archdeacon Buhunga Archdeaconry Venerable James Tumusiime in his remarks to use the little they have to celebrate Christmas peacefully.
