Police in Fort Portal have arrested four people suspected for kidnapping children and stealing vehicle number plates.
The Rwenzori West police spokes person Ms Lydia Tumushabe said that they arrested the suspects from Kasusu in south division Fort portal municipality.
Ms Tumushabe said that they were tipped off by the whistle blower and decided to carry out an operation to arrest the main suspect and other three people he has been working with.
Their arrest comes after the several cases of kidnapped children in the last two month whereby three children were kidnapped and their parents had to paid ransom.
The main suspect who is currently in police custody at Fort portal police station confessed to have kidnapped four children out of six cases registered at police.
The suspect was found with sim cards and phones he has been stealing and using to call parents demanding for ransom.
Ms Tumushabe said the suspects will be charged in court with cases of theft of number plate and kidnap.
Early this month police in Fort Portal with other security agencies launched neighborhood watch and community policing to crackdown all perpetrators of kidnaps in Kabarole district.
