FOUR DIE, TWO CRITICALLY INJURED IN BUNDIBUGYO LANDSLIDE

Four people have been confirmed dead and two are in critical condition in bundibugyo district after a land slide swept away the villages of Ndugutu Sub County on Sunday evening.
The mudslides swept off Kasanza village, Kisongo and Galiraya in the hills of Ndugutu Sub County destroying property and plantations worth millions of shillings.
Mr. Kahunga Mutesasira 35 a resident Kisogo village, his house was buried in the mudslide who was in the house with hi family of four children.
Red Cross and other Non-governmental organizations are in the area to assess the damage and help those affected.
The West Rwenzori Regional Police Commander Denis Namuwoza said they are still searching for more people who might have not been seen at the moment and the injured have been taken to Bundibugyo hospital for treatment.
Mr. Denis urged the public to plant trees on all bare mountain slopes to control mudslides in the area.
This is the second landslide in Bundibugyo in less than two months. In May this 2016, 15 people died and 200 homes were destroyed after landslides hit Bumadu Village in Bundibugyo Town Council in Bundibugyo District.
