GEN KYALIGONZA ISSUED WARRANT OF ARREST BY MUKONO COURT

Mukono Chief Magistrate Juliet Haddy Hatanaga has isrrant of issued warrant of arrest for the Ambassoder of Uganda to Burundi Gen Kyaligonza Matayo and his two body guards who are accused of assaulting a female traffic police officer.
The warrants followed failure to appear in court for mentioning of their case.
Magistrate Hatanga signed the warrants yesterday ordering the arrest of Gen Kyaligonza,73, John Robert Okurut, 27, and Lance Corporal Peter Bushembich 30 to be brought to court for the trial.
The suspects were charged with assault and causing body harm, contrary to sec 236 of the penal code act.
Kyaligonza and the guards according to prosecution assaulted and injured the female traffic officer Esther Namaganda, who was carrying out duties on 24th February.aulted also; the two officers were arrested and paraded before an internal UPDF disciplinary court.

According to reports, the suspects through their lawyers refused to appear before two different tribunals for the same case, again skipped the Mukono Court which forced the magistrate to issue the arrest of warrants.
