Minister for science, technology and innovations Dr Elioda Tumwesigye has revealed that government will take over the defunct farmers silk factory in sheema district situated at Rubale district farm
Dr. Elioda said this yesterday while touring the factory on a fact finding tour at the place. he was in a company of officials from national council for science and technology led by Barugahara, the founding chairman of Uganda silk farmers association MrJohn Ndyabagye
Dr Elioda noted that the market forsilk is available to the farmers and called upon them to start growing silk to earn clean money.
He added that they are going on a sensitization of farmers to resume growing of silk warns, silk cocoons and other products such that the factory starts producing silk products.
He said the government has established market in Hong Kong,Iran and other Asian Countries
The minister also toured banana Juice production factory with his team at st kagwa in Bushenyi town and promised to support conel Kekuruso in his banana wine production called Esandy
