Rev Fr Rugambwa Prosper the parish priest at St Luke Catholic church Muhanga town council Rukiga District has today 04/02/2023 gone ahead to conduct the wedding between Mr Twinomugisha Frank and Twinomugisha Christine despite a red flag raised by Rukiga probation officer which she termed as an illegal wedding.
Preaching during the mass today at the wedding of Mr Twinomugisha Frank and Twinomugisha Christine which was held at St Luke catholic parish Muhanga, Rev Fr Rugambwa Prosper said that he has been receiving many letters from the other women and the office of the probation requesting him to halt the wedding.
He further challenged Mr Twinomugisha Frank to go and settle the burning wrangles among his family.
Fearing mob actions from the charged family, Rev Fr prosper called the police to man the church until the wedding ended.
On 1st Feb 2023 the Rukiga district probation officer Mrs Pamela Kembabazi wrote to the parish priest requesting him to halt the wedding of Mr Twinomugisha Frank saying that there were some irregularities that needed to be addressed before the wedding.
In her letter addressed to the Rev Fr, Pamela Kembabazi stressed that Marion Twikirize aged 30 and a mother of two children ( Beinomugisha Frankline 9yrs and Ainomugisha Mariam 4yrs) approached her office seeking for intervention about her husband’s Mr Twinomugisha Frank move to marry another wife.
“He told me that the catholic faith has got two major reasons to why they should halt the wedding, that is if the person once got wedded or if one of the parents of the couples comes on board demanding to halt the wedding and that since couple has none of the two reasons, I must wed them come Saturday” Rev. Fr. Rugambwa told Ms Pamela Probation officer.
Kembabazi added that she has been receiving such scenarios among the church of Uganda but these would comply with her guidelines unlike the catholic faith which is trying not to honor her request.
Mrs Marion Twikirize a resident of Nyaruhanga cell, Kyerero parish Bukinda sub county Rukiga district said that what is hurting her most is to see her husband bring a new wife in the properties she bought with him.
“I have no problem with him having a wedding, but my concern is how he is selling the pieces of land which we bought together, signed together in an agreement to go and clear the bride price” she added.
Twikirize added that for the last one year she had separated, her husband had never sent any kind of support including paying school fees and medical bills to assist the two young children.
Twikirize wants her property which she bought with her husband not to be tampered with.
