GUNSHOTS AS POLICE INVESTIGATES ESCALATING POISONING CASES

Gunshots rang out in Muhanga town council, Rukiga District, as the Police conducted investigations into the mysterious death of a 28-year-old man who was allegedly poisoned.
The deceased was identified as Nelson Twesima, also known as Kikorokomba, a resident of Muhanga town council in Rukiga district, according to ASP Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Police.
Reports suggest that yesterday around 9:00 PM, at Muhanga central cell in Muhanga town council, the intoxicated Twesima visited Gerald’s bar. He sat down with friends and started vomiting after consuming some drinks.
Alarmed by his condition, the bar owner, Gerald, and Taremwa, another patron, decided to take him outside for fresh air. They left him outside the bar, assuming he would recover. However, this morning at approximately 2:45 AM, they discovered him lifeless.
Maate stated that Gerard Taremwa informed the police about the incident in the morning. The officers promptly visited the scene of the crime, documenting the findings. A postmortem examination was conducted at Kabale referral hospital.
Earlier in the day, the police had apprehended more than 15 individuals for questioning, and this number may increase as the police investigation progresses.
A case of suspected murder by poisoning has been registered at Rukiga central Police station under file number CRB 311/2023.
The police are actively pursuing inquiries to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident
