Locals in Rwanyamahembe Sub County Kashari South Constituency in Mbarara district are crying foul after a heavy hailstorm destroyed their property including gardens and plantations.
Parishes of Rutooma, Rwebishekye and Mabiira were the most affected as strong winds destroyed mostly maize, beans, cassava gardens and banana plantations.
The locals are now calling upon the government to come to their rescue before famine hits the area.
Patrick Tumuhimbise the area councilor says that the rain which started in the afternoon was accompanied by strong winds which destroyed peoples property.
He says that he is going to make a report to relevant authorities so that they can intervene and save the situation.
He appealed to banks and Saccos which had given loans to farmers to approach them softly.
