HEALTH EXPERTS DISMISS ALLEGATIONS OF EBOLA OUTBREAK IN MASINDI

Health experts in Masindi district have dismissed allegations on Ebola outbreak in district.
The allegations followed the death of Simon Buhangamaiso who died on the 31st December 2018 after presenting signs of Ebola virus.
Simon Buhangamaiso was buried on the 1st January 2019 in Kikingura village Kitamba Parish Bwijanga Sub County Masindi district by a team of officials from world health organization and Ministry of health.
Before Buhangamaiso died he was rushed to Ntooma health centre II and when the situation intensified he was taken to Kitara medical centre where he died from.
Addressing a press conference yestrday, John Turyagaruka the District Health Officer Masindi explained that according to the tests conducted by Uganda Virus Research Institute Simon died of Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fevers (CCHF) but it was not Ebola at all.
He said it is not Ebola though it also causes bleeding, diarrhea, headache fever, vomit among others.
Turyagaruka added that as health experts they are in contact with the 36 people who were in contact with the deceased before and after he died adding that they have identified them and they are closely monitoring them.
