The state house health monitoring Unit headed by Dr. Julian Nabatanzi has given a stern warning to health workers who operate without the dispensing log books for to accountability of the drugs they receive and give to the patients.
According to Dr. Nabatanzi this has increased the cases of government drugs theft in public health facilities since there are no records to show drugs deliveries received monthly and quarterly.
She noted that some of the health workers steal government drugs and sell them in private clinics telling patients that there are no drugs in government hospitals. She threatened to arrest anyone caught involved in the evil deal.
Dr. Nabatanzi made remarks on Friday during a two week health monitoring through meetings held at various Health Centers in Ntungamo District.
She revealed that they got complaints about health officers in public health units who use government drugs and equipment to operate their private clinics.
“We have also noticed that some Doctors and Nurses go for Lunch at 12 noon and turn up at 4pm when the patients have gone back home complaining that healthy workers do not work and indeed its true they do not work” Dr. Nabatanzi said.
