HEAVY RAINS DESTROY ROAD, PROPERTY IN KAMWENGE

A section of Kamwenge –Fort portal road which is being constructed has been
washed away by rain. The section of the road in the heart of Kamwenge town
was yesterday evening washed away by heavy rains.
The rain which was characterized by strong winds, thunder and storm lasted
for an hour. During the rain, Kamwenge town over flooded with water.
To the surprise of residents, a section of the road which is under
construction by Chinese Railway Seventh Group was washed away.
To the residents, they described the washing a way of the road to shoddy
work by the contractors.
Meanwhile, two schools were also blown off by wind during the rains. The
affected schools include Kamusenene primary school in Bwizi Sub County, and
Kakinga primary school in Kamwenge Sub County.
Mubunga John the head teacher Kamusenene primary school said three
classrooms were razed down by the down pour. However, Mubungu said no one
was injured.
At Kakinga primary school, three classrooms were also razed down.At
Nkoma C.O.U Primary school, seven classrooms were also destroyed. At
Rwamwanja secondary school, the girl’s dormitory was also affected.
Rev. Canon Jackson Rwabishari the archdeacon Nkoma archdeaconary confirmed
the story.In several places in Kamwenge town council, Nyabbani sub county, crops
worth million of shillings were destroyed during the heavy rains.
Residents whose property and crops were destroyed are now calling for
urgent help from government.
When contacted, Kibale County Mp Eng. Cuthebert Abigaba Mirembe said he
will coordinate with his fellow legislators from Kamwenge to petition
office of the prime minister for assistance.
