The president Hoima journalists and media practitioners’ association Johnbosco Tugume has tied knot with longtime bunkmate in a scientific wedding that was held on assumption day of holy Mary.
The concept of scientific weddings started with a ban on public gatherings in March 2020 in a bid to fight COVID19 with a suggestion by President Yoweri Museveni that people can abandon what he called hexagonal weddings in favor of scientific weddings with only few people in attendance.
Tugume’s scientific wedding mass was held at St. Cyprian catholic town church and before the couple and few people were ushered into the church, they were asked to wash their hands with soap and water, a current norm to prevent the spread of COVID19.
St. Cyprian, a church that houses hundreds of people had in it not more than 30 people although the district task force chairperson Samuel Kisembo Araali had cleared only 20 people.
The mass that lasted for one hour was led by Fr. Peter Kaberenge who urged married couples to be tolerant, be humble to one another, forgive, love and support each other as principles of marriage.
Kaberenge says the increasing cases of domestic violence in the country are because most couples have lost the track and forgotten the principles of having a long lasting marriage.
Excited Tugume said that they had planned to hold it next year but when president Museveni advised that whoever wanted to do a wedding should do a scientific one that involves few people, they shared it with relatives and friends who embraced the decision to hold it on August 15th this year.
He has advised ladies who are not wedded to stop pressurizing their bunkmate to do fancy parties saying God’s timing is always perfect.
After the mass, the wedding entourage of 5 cars headed to his home in Karyabuhiire where a reception was organized.
