HOIMA:
The local council chairpersons from Kapaapi County in Hoima district have asked the government to consider increasing their monthly allowances.
The call was made on Sunday during the National Resistance Movement {NRM} thanks giving ceremony for the youth of Kapaapi sub county presided over by the minister of Finance Planning and Economic development Hon. Matia Kasaija.
The function was held at Kibengeya Primary school playgrounds Kapaapi sub county Kigorobya County in Hoima District.
Mr. Joseph Wandera, LC1 chairperson Kibengeya village Kibengeya Parish who represented the colleagues disclosed that the monthly allowance which is paid at the end of year is too little compared to the service they offer.
Every area chairperson is entitled to get 10,000 shillings at the end of the month as their allowance, however, Wandera asserts that they have a big task they do in their areas which involves moving up and down.
He also used the same opportunity to ask the government to consider getting for them means of transport to enable them to execute their duties.
In response, the minister of Finance Planning and Economic development Hon. Matia Kasaija tasked Fred Mbabazi, the LC3 Chairperson for Kapaapi Sub County to note down the concerns including the LC1 Chairperson allowance increment and submit to him.
