The town clerk Bushenyi Ishaka municipality William Makuune Abwooli has refuted allegations against him that he stole 194 million shillings from the municipality received from revenue.
The town clerk was speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter in an exclusive interview today 4th March 2020 in his office at Bushenyi Ishaka Municipal headquarter.
Makuune revealed that in August 2019 financial year, there was a change in government policy whereby the municipality had to first send the collected money to Kampala so the municipality collected 194,729,144 shilings only ,and sent it to Kampala from where it was later brought back for use .
He added that in that financial year, the council approved a budget of 766,372,000 shillings and after the ministry confirmed it,it was divided into four and the money sent but didn’t come with the clear guidelines .
He said that what was clear to them was 25% revenue advanced from quarter one ,adding that local revenue is not for capital development but for office operations.
The town clerk Makuune noted that those alleging that he stole municipality money should know that it was used to run the activities of the municipality.
