In Masindi
Norman Lukumu, the former Prime Minister Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has explained during this Iddi Elifitiri how his sacking was caused being of Muslim faith.
Addressing Muslims at Kihande mosque in Masindi town yesterday, Lukumu noted that while he was Bunyoro’s prime minister, he was being witch hunted because of being a Muslim. He added that another thing which could have caused his sacking is being a mugungu by tribe.
H e said he has been working with people who are promoting sectarianism adding that they are the same people who are still in the kingdom’s leadership.
He also added that he is disappointed with people who have continued to tarnish his name noting that many people have gone a head claiming that Lukumu sold all Kingdom’s properties citing Kyanwali land and Kinyara shares.
He explained that he has never sold any Kingdom property but during his tenure they only leased Kyangwali land for 99 years. He revealed that while Bunyoro’s prime minister he did many things but people are silent on them instead they are tarnishing his name.
Early this year, Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom sacked Norman Lukumu as Bunyoro’s prime minister and replaced him with Andrew Byakutaga something which didn’t go well with him. After his sacking Lukumu rushed to Masindi court challenging his sacking arguing that his term had not yet ended.
His application was dismissed by the Masindi deputy registrar,Simon Kintu, because it had no strong grounds.
During the same prayers, sheikh SaphianYahayaMugisa, the district Khadi greater Masindi expressed his concern over the increased brutal murders and arrests of the Muslims hence calling upon Muslims in Uganda to pray for the country such that it can get peace.
