IBANDA CIVIL SERVANTS WARNED ON ABSENTEEISM

The, Ibanda district Chief Administrative Officer; Robert Abenaitwe has warned civil servants in the district to desist from absenting themselves from duty without genuine or else they face a disciplinary committee.
Speaking to press yesterday, Abenaitwe said his office will enforce the law which stipulates that all district workers should work for more than twenty days in a month.
He said some officers come to office only to sign the daily attendance book and leave the coats in chairs before they go to their private businesses.
Abenaitwe disclosed that his office has received a report that seven officers mainly the heads of departments and some clerical officers have been on and off from their offices without sound explanations.
He noted that the district is planning to buy barded wires and cage so that all administrative units can be fenced leaving the main gates where a roll call will be made to record the names of workers who report on time especially in the morning and after lunch hours.
Some workers who talked to www.mknewslink.com on anonymity said they have family problems and sometimes they go to attend the burial of their relatives.
Some female workers say the new policy might not favour them because they are mothers and their when their children fall sick at night the following morning they have to take them to clinics for treatment.
