IBANDA DISTRICT GETS 37,500 PIECES OF CONDOMS

The USAID R.Rhites, an NGO in South Western Uganda has donated over 37,500 pieces of condoms to reduce the scarcity that had hit Ibanda district recently.
The population of new visitors in Ibanda district especially in town councils and Ibanda municipal council is increasing every day. Mr. Vicent Mugisha, the vocal person Ibanda district for health department, said the donation came out at the right time when people are preparing to celebrate the Easter festivals.
He explained that many condoms have been placed in places known as condom dispensers in boxes hanging on walls and earmarked at the selected entrances of Bars, lodges and government offices. He said the selected and gazette places include Ibanda municipal council, Igorora town council, Ishongorero town council and Rwenkoobwa town council which are known to be hot spot places in Ibanda district.
Mr. Mugisha noted that some people who are in need of condoms for protection should contact VHTS team in their areas for service delivery.
When the www.mknewslink.com reporter visited Ibanda municipal council, Igorora town council and Ishongorero town council at 8:00PM found hundreds of young men and women squatting on steps of cinema, disco halls, Bars and hotels along streets lining up for pork and muchomo while drinking bottles of beer.
“No jobs, no money, yet prices for renting houses and food rising day by day. Ms. Molly Ninsiima, a Bar attendant said.
Mr. Daniel Mujuni from Ishongorero town council, says” to meet the needs, girls on streets and in Bars have to exchange sex for money with drivers of long distance vehicles, Bodaboda operators and even with rich businessmen”.
He reveals that before one to gets a girl should pay heavily to book for a room in the lodge as a mandatory either for short call or long service for the whole night.
