Hundreds of Muslims in Ibanda district have joined others in the world to celebrate the biggest festival of the Muslims faith in high gear.
A big number of Muslims have today 11th July been seen at Ibanda District Muslim headquarters in Rugarama dressed in Muslims attires as they are singing Aral.
Addressing the jubilant Muslims at Rugarama main mosque headquarters in Ibanda Municipality, the District Chief Khadi Sheik Yusufu Kalule has asked the Muslims to follow the pillars of the Muslim teaching.
He has also called for unity among the Muslims and work hand in hand with other religions in the district.
Yusufu advised parents to send their children to schools because education is the main key to success.
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event.
It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
In 2019 it fell on a Sunday. Due to this, some businesses may choose to follow Sunday opening hours.
