A total of 43 farmers in Ibanda district on Wednesday received heifers under the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) programme to enable them improve house hold incomes.
Among the beneficiaries included 16 leaders of the youth in the district.
The Ibanda Resident District Commissioner, Eliasto Akatuheebwa, while handing over the heifers at the district headquarters, cautioned the beneficiaries against selling them.
Akatuheebwa hailed the Government for its support towards improving the lives of the people, especially those in rural areas.
Lt. Joseph Bataringaya the operation Wealth Coordinator Ibanda district, urged farmers to always ensure prompt vaccination of their animals, besides proper hygiene in kraals, so as to ensure the animals are not hit by disease.
The LC 5 chairman of Ibanda, Melichiadis Kazwengye said the heifers will play a big role in improving the house hold incomes of people in the district.
Kazwengye urged the Government to allocate more funds to the OWC programme, so many more farmers can benefit from it.
