IBANDA HEALTH STOREKEEPER IN TROUBLE OVER GOV’T STOLEN DRUGS

Ibanda district health store in charge Isaac Aijuka is in soup for allegedly stealing government drugs.
Dr. Brian Arinaitwe who heads State house health Monitoring unit revealed that on 12th April 2021 they received alarming information from National Medical stores that over 20 boxes of coartem drug supplied to Ibanda District went missing two days after the supply.
Dr. Arinaitwe yesterday while meeting health unit in charges noted that they immediately swung into action and arrested one Isaac Aijuka the store in-charge.
According to Arinaitwe, Aijuka confessed that he has been stealing drugs especially sugar coated Coartem and selling them to Tanzania and Congo where there is a sure market.
He also helped National Medical Stores officials to trace the drugs up to Tanzania where he had sold them at 10M instead of 50M.
Isaac was given bond on 15th April 2021 but Arinaitwe said that investigations have just started to uncover all that have been done in dark.
Ibanda District Chairman Melichaides Kazwengye wants the IGG team to move down and investigate the theft, misuse of Government funds and medicines especially in the district adding that most civil servants are getting rich and richer every day.
