IBANDA STRAY DOGS KILL 14 SHEEP,60 GOATS

Shock gripped residents of Kyereeta LC 1 cell in Kyaruhanga ward, Ibanda municipal on Friday when two herdsmen found 14 sheep and one goat Killed by stray dogs.
Over 30 stray dogs accompanied by their young ones on Friday invaded a farm belonging to Mr. David Kakwene Mujuni,killing 14 sheep and one goat.

. The herdsmen who tried to hunt the dogs faced hostile resistance from the wild dogs hiding in thick forests at the top of Ibanda hill.
According to the herdsmen who went to hunt the animals in the farm as their daily routine programme, they were shocked to find the dogs feeding on 14 carcasses of sheep.
Preliminary LC one reports in the area indicate that one of the area frmers only identified as Mujuni lost 60 goats to the stray dogs last year. The dogs also killed eight goats at Kyaruhanga 2 cell belonging to the family of late William Katehangwa in January last year.
Mr. Mujuni told the www.mknewslink.com today that he has reported the matter to the office of Resident District Commissioner in Ibanda district. Mr. Eliasto Akatuheebwa who promised him to visit the area very soon to address the residents. He advised the owners of dogs to chain them.
He advised the livestock farmers to report the matter to Police who can to hunt the dogs and kill them. He said such wild dogs if not killed no one will stay keeping domestic animals.
