IBANDA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DUMPING OWN BABY INTO PIT LATRINE

Police in Ibanda district have arrested a 20 year old woman suspected to have dumped her newly born baby in a 30 feet pit latrine on 6th March 2018.
The Police in charge officer, Keneth Odea said that Denavance Tusingwire, a resident of Rwenkoobwa town council in Ibanda district who delivered an alive baby later dumped it into a nearby pit latrine.Residents tried to rescue the baby, but all was in vain as it was already dead.
Odea said that Tusingwire had misunderstanding with her lover who refused to give her assistance, thus deciding to trow the baby into latrine.
According to the residents, one of their neighbours heard the noise of the baby inside the pit latrine where she had gone for a long call. She raised an alarm which attracted several people who informed the area LCI chairman before police intervened.
Police retrieved the baby from the pit latrine but it was already dead.
When the police arrested Tusingwire as a suspect she confessed and told the gathering that she decided to kill the child because she had no assistance.
Tusingwire was transferred from Rwenkoobwa police post to Ibanda central police Station. Police said that after investigations the suspect will be produced in courts of law to answer murder charges.
