IF WE RIGGED VOTES IN KAYUNGA, WE WOULDN’T HAVE WON WITH ONLY 400 — PM NABANJA

Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabanja the Prime Minister of Uganda has rubbished allegations that the ruling National Resistance Movement – NRM party rigged by-elections in Kayuga District.
Addressing Journalists on Sunday evening in Masindi district after meeting leaders, Rt. Hon. Nabanja asserted that though they are in the government, they did not decide for the people of Kayuga district on whom to lead them.
Nabanja also noted that she couldn’t campaign for the opposition yet they also have a candidate in the same race. The premiere further noted that all oppositions camped in Kayuga to campaign for their candidates.
The leader of government businesses said that oppositions have mastered the techniques of rigging elections adding that they intimidate people, ballot stuff when they don’t have supporters in the area, and after ballot stuffing, when someone notices them, they start shouting and for that case, some people were arrested.
‘’If we wanted to rig elections, why did we win by 400 votes only, after the campaign I went back to Kampala people of Kayuga are the ones who decided who should lead them,’’ She noted.
In the just concluded by-elections in Kayuga district, Jennifer kyobutungi the Returning Officer Kayunga district declared Andrew Muwonge of NRM as the winner emerging with 31,830 votes, followed by Harriet Nakweede Kafeero of National Unity Platform who obtained 31,380 votes.
