Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Jolly Tibemanya, the district chairman Jaffar Bassajjabalaba and the CAO Elias Byamungu resolved in a meeting yesterday that they have taken over security and some activities of Igara Growers Tea factory situated in Kyamuhunga Town Council Bushenyi District.
The decision followed a meeting between the petitioners and the board members where they all agreed that four board members retire at the forth coming Annual General Meeting-AGM.
Petitioners led by Naboth Mbagirenta and Ephraim Biraaro accuse the board members led by Eng. Gershom Rwakasanga the board chairman of refusing to retire after their term of office expired.
However, Eng. Rwakashanga said he cannot accept the resolution passed by the meeting because of representation issues at the same meeting.
The members supposed to retire include; Gershom Rwakashanga, Daniel Nareeba, Edson Musiime (accepted to retire) and Muhangisa Eldard.
In the meeting at RDCs office in Bushenyi town, the RDC Jolly Tibemanya noted that if the board chairman and members reject the agreed way forward, he, the district chairman and the CAO will take over security and some activities.
The factory is owned by farmers and its worth billions of shillings but because of the fatty allowances, boards members have refused to retire.
