The Rukiga district probation officer Mrs Pamela Kembabazi is splinting fire on the Rev Fr Rugambwa Prosper the parish priest at St Luke Catholic church Muhanga town council Rukiga District over what she termed as illegal Wedding.
Speaking to our reporter on a phone call, Mrs Pamela Kembabazi said that on 31st January Marion Twikirize aged 30 and a mother of two children ( Beinomugisha Frankline 9yrs and Ainomugisha Mariam 4yrs) approached her office seeking for intervention about her husband’s Mr Twinomugisha Frank move to marry another wife.
The wedding is scheduled to take place on Saturday 4th Feb 2023 at St Luke Catholic church) at Muhanga Parish in Rukiga District.
Kembabazi said that she tried to call the parish priest but all was in vain until she traveled to St Luke Catholic church to meet the Rev Fr Rugambwa physically notifying him about the stranded two children Twinomugisha is leaving behind together with the wife.
Kembabazi said that she managed to talk with the Rev Fr on a phone call but was shocked to listen to the Rev Fr Rugambwa say that hook or crook, he must weed the accused come 4th Saturday at St Luke Catholic church.
“He told me that the catholic faith has got two major reasons to why they should halt the wedding, that is if the person once got wedded or if one the parents of the couples comes on board demanding to halt the wedding and that since couple has none of the two reasons, I must wed them come Saturday” Pamela added.
Kembabazi added that she has been receiving such scenarios among the church of Uganda but these would comply with her guidelines unlike the catholic faith which is trying not to honor her request.
She said the Rev Fr works for the government and so her office and there should be no reason why the two should fail to work together.
She vowed to deal with the Rev Fr in any situation and if it means bringing the police in the church to jeopardize the wedding she is ready to do so saying that her office has got the mandate to protect the young innocent children.
Mrs Marion Twikirize a resident of Nyaruhanga cell, Kyerero parish Bukinda sub county Rukiga district said that due to the endless fights, she separated with her husband Mr Twinomugisha Frank 40yrs fearing for her life in 2021 after approaching all the offices which yielded no help to curb down the endless fights
She said that what is hurting her most is to see her husband bring a new wife in the things she bought with her husband.
“I have no problem with him having a wedding, but my concern is how he is selling the pieces of land which we bought together, signed together in an agreement to go and clear the bride price” she added.
Twikirize added that for the last one year she had separated, her husband had never sent any kind of support including paying school fees and medical bills to assist the two young children.
Twikirize wants her property which she bought with her husband not to get tempered with.
The Rev Fr Rugambwa Prosper the parish priest at St Luke Catholic church Muhanga town council Rukiga District challenged the probation officer to mind her office and leave church issues out of her mind.
“It’s the local council to settle the matters of land but not probation, but we as a church have got no problem and we are ready to wed them”. he added.
Rugamba questioned why the second wife is more concerned than the first wife.
Fr Rugambwa Prosper admitted that he is going to wed the couple saying that they first sent the couple to first settle their grievances which they did
Mr Twinomugisha Frank is married with three wives and has chucked all of them opting for a third wife whom he intends to legally marry on sati.
Our reporter tried to have a comment from the accused Mr Twikirize But all was in vain as he kept on making our endless calls busy
