IRON BAR GOONS ON INCREASE IN IBANDA DISTRICT

Police in Ibanda district are hunting two suspects who are accused for using iron bar metals to hit a bodaboda cyclist and taking off his motorcycle yesterday.
Richard Nabende aged 28 years, a prominent bodaboda operator in Ibanda Municipality survived being killed when he was hired by two unknown people to transport them from Ibanda town to Kyaruhanga 1 cell, a distance of1Km on a fare of shs.2000=. When they reached at a place agreed upon, one of the passengers sitting at the back pulled out a note of shs. 5000= and demanded for the balance. During the process, Nabende pulled out a bundle of the money from his pocket trying to give them their balance, but was shocked to be hit with an iron bar metal on the head leaving him in coma. He was rushed to Ibanda hospital bleeding profusely. He however, the medical personnel later transferred him to Mbarara referral hospital while in critical conditions.
The chairperson, Ibanda bodaboda association, Mr. Ronald Mugisha, said the suspects are on run and took off with the motorcycle Reg.UEL 977 G. He also said a gang of iron bar goons of recent have ruined Ibanda district and are suspected to be thieves while others are being employed by criminals to threaten or attack people at night using iron bar metals to hit on the heads of bodaboda operators and terrorizing residents who return late from the work place at night.
The District Police Commander, Mr. Denis Ochama said the security operatives are hunting the suspects.
