The Isingiro district LCV chairman Jeremiah Birungi Kamurali has attributed the escalating cases of early marriages in the district to poverty
Kamurali told www.mknewslink.com that people in the district lack sensitization about the dangers of marrying off girls at a tender age, though the government and other partners are working jointly to curb the evil act.
According to reports from Action for Youth Development Uganda (ACOYDE), some parents and guardians exchange their daughters for maize flour, Sodas and other goods especially in some parts of Isingiro and Kiruhura districts.
In Isingiro, the public has been warned and a circular Issued to all sub county and Parish chiefs to help in apprehending and prosecuting all perpetrators
