IT’S A BURDEN TO TAX PAYERS! NYAKIKONGORO CRITICIZES CREATION OF NEW CONSTITUENCIES

In Sheema
The former Sheema District woman MP Hon. Rosemary Nyakikongoro has lashed out at the decision by the local Government to the create more 46 constituencies.
Ms Nyakikongoro’s argument comes shortly after the cabinet approved the creation of 31 new counties that included Ruhinda south carved from Ruhinda county in Mitooma district.
In June this year, cabinet had also approved the creation of other 15 constituencies which included Buhweju west in Buhweju District making a total of new 46 new constituencies.
According to Nyakikongoro who is also vying for Sheema District woman MP seat, this was uncalled for since it adds nothing to service deliver but rather adds a burden to taxpayers.
“It would have been better if the current counties were elevated into districts and then be represented by two MPS other than creating new ones,” Nyakikongoro suggested.
The former legislator added that a huge task is faced by female parliamentarians who represent a whole district compared to constituency MPs.
