JOURNALIST ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING RUKUNGIRI DISTRICT INSPECTOR OF SCHOOLS
Police in Rukungiri are holding a Journalist with Messiah Fm in Kasese
district on allegations of Impersonation.
Tugaineyo Innocent alias Dj Innocent Bishasha 22 of itembe Cell
Kalisizo parish Buhunga Sub County was arrested on Monday 13th
February in Kituguru Bugangari Sub County after he had lied to the
head teacher that he was the Inspector of Schools Rukungiri District.
It is alleged that Tugaineyo was moving around schools impersonating
that he was from the education department Rukungiri district and that
he was the inspector of schools and extorting money from the head
teachers.
Ms Kasoga, the officer in charge of criminal intelligence and
investigations department Rukungiri police station confirmed the
arrest of Tugaineyo Innocent.
She says charges of Impersonation and extortion of money has been
preferred against him.
“we are investigating the case and as soon as we are done he will be
arraigned in courts of law.
Tugaineyo Innocent was arrested using Motorcycle number UEJ 726V.
The Principal inspector of Schools Turyahumura Jackson says “we have
been receiving information about this person; we have been trying to
catch him”.
He says that from Monday last week he has been moving around schools
calling himself the inspector of schools, by the time of his arrest he
had finished Kebisoni Sub County.
“Actually we arrested him in Bugangari as the mob was trying to lynch
him, after they learnt he was a thief” he said.
When asked at the police Tugaineyo denied the allegations saying he
was collecting information for his station.
“I learnt that some schools were to be closed so I moved around to
collect their views I was not extorting money at all and I never
called myself the inspector of schools” he said
