JUBILATION IN TOORO AS FORMER KINGDOM PREMIER IS RELEASED

The Former Prime Minister Tooro Kingdom, John Sanyu Katuramu has been released from Luzira Prisons.
Katuramu was convicted and sentenced to death in 1999, for masterminding the murder of the then Tooro Prince Patrick Happy Kijanangoma and a guard, Stephen Kaganda. The incident is said to have occurred at Palace View Bar Hotel in Fort Portal town.
Katuramu was received by his son Job Katuramu today morning and later driven to his home in Mbuya.
People of Toro have for a quiet long time been asking president Museveni during rally campaigns in Rwenzori to pardon him but he only asked the two parties to reconcile before he pardons him as he had powers to do that.
His release comes at a time when the king of Toro Dr.oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru 1V is celebrating his 26th coronation anniversary at his palace in fort portal. When Katuramu was convicted, King Oyo was 7 years old.
Members of Parliament from Rwenzori Region are excited following the release of Mr. John Sanyu Katuramu Amooti the proprietor Voice of Tooro.
Alex Ruhunda the Fort Portal Central Division MP says the release of Katuramu at the 26th King Oyo’s Coronation anniversary is a milestone saying Tooro will not remain the same.
Bright Tom Amooti the MP Kyaka South says Mr. Katuramu has to fully serve the People of Tooro adding that his release will benefit the entire country for social economic transformation.
Linda Irene Mugisa the Woman MP Fort Portal city says since Katuramu is an entrepreneur who was the first person to startup a radio station in Tooro, people of Tooro need to welcome him with joy and be forgiving for a harmonious leaving.
