JUDICIAL OFFICERS ARE CORRUPT—PRINCIPAL JUDGE
BY JOEL KAGUTA
IN KASESE—
Cases delay to be resolved in the Courts of law because Lawyers and
Magistrates demand for huge sums of money from both the complainants
and defendants.
Presiding over a one day Open Court Day yesterday at the Kasese
district head quarters in Kasese Municipality, the principal Judge Dr.
Yorakam Bamwine questioned why many courts in the country were
still battling with cases of the last fifteen years.
In Kasese, cases of 2008 are still unresolved blaming the situation on
lack of customer care and hospitality.
He appealed to the Judicial officers to give maximum attention to the
plight of the people warning them against venting their hunger on the
people with cases.
He asked the District Coordination Committee to be active in helping
people with problems of land grabbing and other related cases in their
respective communities.
However the district chairperson Sibendire Bigogo said that the
population of Kasese District is too big to be controlled by only four
Judicial officers saying there was need for more Magistrates.
He said Hima also needs at least a grade one Magistrate to serve the
people in the northern region of the District.
