In Bushenyi—
The electoral commission registrar for Bushenyi district Godfrey Mbabazi has today afternoon declared Annah Kajoojo as district councilor for Kyabugimbi.
Kajoojo was announced a winner after her only opponent Moses Nabimanya Mwesigye was disqualified on grounds that he did not resign from public service as an office supervisor at Bushenyi chief magistrate’s court before contesting.
Annah Kajoojo petitioned the independent electoral commission of Uganda and the chairman of the commission Justice Simon Byabakama Mugyenyi ruled that indeed Nabimanaya faulted the law and took to active politics without resigning from his job at Bushenyi chief Magistrate’s court.
Annah Kajoojo is not new in the district council as she was a secretary for social service / minister in Chairman Willis Bashasha’s regime that ran from 2011-2016.
This means that there will be no voting for directly elected councilor in Kyabugimbi since Annah Kajoojo is unopposed.
