In Kabale
Police in Kabale have on Monday arrested at least 12 brokers and tax drivers at Kabale UNRA Taxi Park and Butobere junction for defying presidential directives on COVID 19.
During presidential directives on opening transport activities, president Museveni discouraged brokers in taxi and bus parks to reduce congestion as one of the measures to prevent and fight the spread of the pandemic.
According to the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, Elly Matte, it has become a habit among brokers and tax operators to grab people and their property without knowing their health status, on top of stealing people’s property.
Mate said that the victims have been warned and asked to disseminate the same information to their colleagues.
However, Matte also stated that the operations will continue until all tax operators follow the ministry of healthy guidelines on COVID 19.
