KABALE BODA BODA CYCLIST LOSES LEFT EYE TO UPDF BRUTALITY

A 32 year old Boda boda Rider in Kabale Municipality has lost his left eye after UPDF officers on patrol allegedly hit him with a wire.
The victim John Bosco Akampurira, is a boda boda rider at Kabale University Stage and a resident of Kamatojo cell, Mwanjari Ward Southern Division in Kabale Municipality
John Bosco told www.mknewslink.com reporter at Terrace land clinic that on Tuesday 24th August 2021, at around 8pm, he met the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) on patrol at Kamatojo cell where they smashed a wire on his left eye.
Bosco said that after realizing that his Eye was damaged and severely bleeding, the officers took away leaving him with his motorcycle in severe pain but was helped by well-wishers.
John Bosco was taken to Rushoroza Hospital for first Aid and referred to Kabale regional hospital.
On 25th, while at Kabale regional referral Hospital, the doctors told him that his eye had been damaged and needed to be removed and they referred him to Terrace Land Clinic where the experts charged him 400.000shillings to operate him.
He says he tried to seek some assistance from heads of security and he was only given 100.000 shillings.from the UPDF.
Lt. Col. Robert Nahamya the UPDF 19th Battalion commander said they are aware and they have sent a team of investigators to the scene in Rushoroza.
