KABALE BUSINESS LADY COUNTS LOSSES AS FIRE GUTS TIMBER STORES

Fire has gutted several timber stores and carpentry workshops in Kabale municipality leaving traders counting huge losses.
The fire gutted the timber stores and carpentry workshops behind Highland Hotel commonly known as Mundeeba in Northern Division, in Bugongi road cell, Lower Bugongi in northern division Kabale municipality today 04th August 2021 morning at around 4 am
Kigezi police Spokesperson Elly Maate said that Fire was put off by the fire brigade before it spread to the neighboring structures and the machinery workshop belonged to one Kaganza Margret a renowned business lady who deals in timber.
Maate said that it was established that property worth millions of Uganda shillings was burnt to ashes and much damage done on structure, four machines, power saws, wood works and timber among others.
Our reporter, who was at the scene, saw tongues of huge flames coming from the stores. Residents tried to stop the fire using soil but all in vain.
According to Maate, no life was lost in the fire and its primary cause is yet to be established.
