KABALE: BUSINESS OWNERS HIKE PRICES OF PLAYING CARDS AS THOUSANDS RUSH TO BUY DURING LOCK DOWN

Business owners from different areas in Uganda have hiked prices of playing cards after youths have resorted to playing cards to kill boredom during this corona virus lock down.
Many youths are now seen playing cards in corridors and hidden corners of dilapidated houses in the town to escape the roving eyes of patrolling security personnel.
An exclusive investigation made by our reporter in the villages of kabale municipality like kekubo, Nyakambu, Mwanjari, Bugongi, Kigongi among others revealed that most youths who used to work as taxi conductors , boda-boda riders and students have now resorted to playing cards for survival.
Business owner in Kabale municipality who preferred anonymity told our reporter that he used to sell off one dozen of playing cards in a week but since lockdown started, the sales have increased to ten dozens.
He added that a packet of playing cards which used to be at 700ugshs before lock down is currently sold at 1000ugshs .
Aijuka Nicholas, a Kabale university student told our reporter that he is even bored at home and he has resorted to cards to kill boredom.
Peter Atusasire, a boda boda cyclist at Kirigyime stage claimed that playing matatu cards is the only way they can keep themselves busy since there are no customers in town.
