KABALE: BUTANDA PARISH COUNCILOR IN TROUBLE FOR ALLEGEDLY EXTORTING MONEY FROM ELDERS

Barinjunaki Emmanuel, the Butanda parish councilor who doubles as the minister of education in-charge of Butanda Sub County in Kabale district is in trouble for allegedly extorting money from elders.
According to Mathias Arinaitwe the Butanda Gomborora Security officer (GISO), ,he received complaints from elders during an inspection by security operatives accusing Barinjunaki of extorting money from them claiming that they were needed by first lady Janet Kataha Museveni.
Mathias claimed that the victims were charged between 3000 and 2000 shilling before they were registered.
Mathius added that for the last two months, Barinjunaki has been moving in the sub county asking the elders and veterans to give him their National Identity cards for photo copying claiming he wanted to send information to Kampala in first lady’s office Janet Kataha Museveni such that they could receive a grant.
He noted that the complaints about Barinjunaki started coming into his office since January 2020.
David Katomato , a concerned resident of Kanyabiyengo village Butanda Sub County also said that the councilor is also allegedly asking complainants to pay Shs 20,000 to facilitate his work towards photo copying and transport to and from Kabale town.
He added that the councilor is still registering the members convincing them that the names are soon to be sent in Kampala for the verification.
When contacted by our reporter, Barinjunaki Emmanuel, said that he is registering veterans for the Umoja Ni Kazi an association of war veterans and it’s supported by embassy of Germany in Uganda.
He said that the embassy of Germany will facilicitate them towards 2021 generals for president Museveni.
At least 100 veterans and elders from Butanda Sub County have been registered.
