KABALE COUNCILOR ARRESTED OVER THEFT OF DUST BINS

The Northern Division councilor Emmanuel Niwagaba was on Sunday 28th October 2018 arrested for allegedly stealing metallic drums that were put on the road sides of Kabale municipality to help in collection of garbage.
Niwagaba who is the chairperson for health committee at the division was found by the division chairperson Isaac Mucunguzi Rushoga on Sunday morning at around 8:30am in his home of Kinyungusi cell in lower Bugongi of Northern division chopping the tins in to smaller pieces. Rushonga who is also neighbor later notified the police which rushed at the scene to pick him.
According to Mucunguzi they have always decried the loss of these plastic tins by people and that out of 200 plastic tins that were donated to Kabale municipality about only five tins are in the municipality working, Mucunguzi says that it is very unfortunate that a councilor has been found under the act of stealing these plastic tins and says that he will be handled as the law says and once he is found guilty he will be charged accordingly.
These plastic tins were donated by Coca-Cola and Entusi in partnership with Kabale municipality to help in collection of all garbage in Town as a bid to beautify the municipality.
On 30th August, Kabale Municipality partnered with Coca-Cola, a beverage company and Entusi resort to commission a retreat center to run a plastic collection in Mwanjari Southern Division whereby they can easily buy all plastics dumped in the municipality.
The central division chairperson Sam Arinaitwe says that Emmanuel will be handled as the law states after the police finishes its investigations and proven guilty, he will be charged accordingly.
Geofrye Kahebwa the Kabale district police Commander confirms the arrest saying that police is still investigating about the matter.
