KABALE DISTRICT FULL FILLING SDG ON WATER

Authorities in Kabale district want clean water extended to villages
in Kabale district as a means of solving the safe water crisis in the
district.
This was revealed yesterday by the Kabale district vice Chairperson
Bridget Asinga Tumwesigye who represented Kabale district chairman
Patrick Besigye Keihwa at World Water day celebrations held at
Kyanamira primary school play ground in Kyanamira sub county Kabale
district.
In 2017/2018 financial year, Kabale district allocated 910, 923, 000 shilling to extend clean water in some areas.
They plan the completion of Nyakeina- Kitanga in Buhara Sub County and
Buranaga – Birambo in Maziba gravity flow schemes, construction of new
gravity flow schemes of Nyarungwe – Katokye in Kyanamira Sub County
and Nyangorogoro in Kitumba Sub County and rehabilitation of Muyumbu
gravity flow scene in Kynamira Sub County.
Asinga noted the extension of clean would help to reduce on sanitary
diseases that may arise after consumption adding that the water will
benefit nearby institutions like schools and health centers.
The Kabale district health Educator Arisen Nzabakurikiza called on the
public to resist the acts of defecating around water sources to reduce
on water born diseases.
World Water day is an international day to celebrate freshwater was
recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and
Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro. The United Nations General
Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World
Water Day.
