KABALE DISTRICT LAUNCHES REHABILITATION OF 13-KILOMETRE KIGARAMA-KAVU ROAD

KABALE
Authorities in Kabale District yesterday launched the rehabilitation of the 13 kilometer Kigarama-Kavu road in Maziba Sub County that will cost over 615 million shillings.
The road connects to Nyanja and Karweru parishes.
During the official launching of the rehabilitation of the road at Heigugwe Trading Center, in Kanyakutana cell, in Nyanja parish, the Kabale district Engineer Januario Turinawe Bagamuhunda said that the scope of works will include site preparatory works, setting out and site clearing work, gravelling, and among others.
He added that they have so far received a total of 270 million shillings out of 615 million shillings required to undertake the project which will be implemented by the district under Force Account.
Speaking at the Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Hon Wilfred Niwagaba said that the funds were sourced from lobbying he made together with the Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira from the Ministry of Finance which was delivered to the district as an Emergency fund from Uganda Road Fund.
Niwagaba and Atwakiire said that they intend to make sure that people get a proper road for transportation of their agricultural products to market including pineapples, onions, and avocados among others.
The Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma, the district Principal Assistant Secretary James Mugisha and the Kabale District LC5 Vice Chairperson Miria Akankwasa Tugume commended Hon Niwagaba and Atwakiire for the lobbying which is derived through cooperation and asked locals to cooperate with the workers hoping that the roads will improve on agricultural products and monitoring government projects.
