KABALE GRADE 1 COURT SENTENCES 4 MEN FOR STEALING SOLAR POWERED SECURITY LIGHTS

The Kabale  Grade  I Magistrates Court has sentenced 4 men over stealing and vandalizing solar powered security lights in Kabale Municipality Worth Ugx 9.8M.

Prosecuiton led by Isaac Onyango told  court that was presided over by  Pascal Olupot  the kabale Grade I magistrate  that  Gerevase Ampaire ,Martin Muhereza Edita Arinaitwe ,Abel Rugasa alias Muriro

Martin Ensinikwere, Derrick Tayebwa on  July 29th 2024 while in Bugongi cell Kabale Municiplaity  stole streets lights and their compartments like batteries  all worth UgX 9.8m.

When the charges were read for them Gerevase Ampaire ,Abel Rugasa alias Muriro,Martin Ensinikweri,Derrick Tayebwa all pleaded guilty to the  three counts of theft, malicious damage and conspiracy to committed a felony  but Edita Ainaitwe and Martin Muhereza pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His worship Pascal Olupot while delivering the judgment he said that he is to sentence them on their plea of guilty he then sentenced Gerevase Ampaire and Abel Rugasira to 5 years on count  one of theft, 3years on count two of malicious damage and 3 years on count three of conspiracy to commit a felony being that they were first time offenders  they are to serve all the sentences co currently but are Habitual offenders he then sentenced them to Derrick Tayebwa and Martin Esinikweri being they are habitual offender she sentenced them to 7 years on count of  theft, 4 years on count two of malicious damage and 3 years on count three of conspiracy to commit a felony which they are also to serve co-currently.

The same court also charged  Gerevase Ampaire,Martin Muhereza,Edita Arinaitwe ,Abel Rugasa alias Muriro Martin Ensinikweri,Derrick Tayebwa on another file three cases of  Theft , malicious damage conspirancy to a felony.

Prosecution told court that  Gerevase Ampaire,Martin Muhereza,Edita Arinaitwe ,Abel Rugasa alias Muriro Martin Ensinikweri,Derrick Tayebwa between March and September 2024 while in Muhanga  Cell they stole 120 solar powered security lights worth  Ugx 225m.

In this case Derrick Tayebwa pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy  to commit a felony but pleaded not  guilty to counts of theft and malicious damage while other all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
