KABALE HEADTEACHERS TIPPED ON COLLABORATION FOR BETTER PERFOMANCE

The Diocesan Secretary of the Diocese of Kigezi, Canon Milton Nkurunungi, has emphasized the importance of cooperation among educational institutions to headteachers under the Diocese of Kigezi.
He made this statement during a meeting with all headteachers of schools under the Diocese of Kigezi, where the education department released the 2024 Primary Seven Pre-Mock results, for exams conducted last term. The aim is to prepare students for the upcoming government exams.
The event was held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama Hill grounds, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality.
Nkurunungi stressed that by collaborating with schools that consistently perform well in exams, headteachers can help their institutions achieve similar academic success.
He revealed that promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing creates a supportive environment benefiting all schools in the diocese. The diocesan secretary believes that collaboration is key to driving educational excellence and improving overall student outcomes.
Drake Mutahakana, the diocesan Education Coordinator in the Diocese of Kigezi, stated that the education department usually administers exams at the end of the first term for Primary Seven Pre-Mock to assess pupils’ progress. Drake mentioned that this year’s pre-primary mock exams were better compared to last year’s.
He urged headteachers to encourage teachers to put more effort into their teaching during class time and to supervise their teachers and pupils, providing words of encouragement.
Mbabazi Andrew, the chairperson of academics reported that a total of 4,692 pupils registered for the pre-mock exams, but only 4,650 pupils sat for exams, including two visually impaired candidates from Hornby High School Junior.
Mbabazi, stated that among the 192 schools under the Diocese of Kigezi, 6 are private schools attached to diocesan schools. The results showed that 77 pupils scored in division one, 683 in division two, 463 in division three, 1,028 in division four, 2,284 in grade U, while 64 pupils had no grade.
This initiative is expected to enhance the quality of education and contribute to the overall development of students in the Kigezi Diocese.
