in Kabale—
The Director MUKA Advert Uganda, Danson M Kamugisha has accused the Kabale municipality mayor Emmanuel Byamugisha Sentaro for uprooting the flowers along the Kabale main street which were planted and installed in flower pots by the above nongovernmental organization.
MUKA Advert Uganda, a nongovernmental organization, last year donated 80 flower pots and 80 flowers to Kabale municipality as part of the beautification of Kabale municipality.
According to Kamugisha, On Friday last week, Byamugisha together with his enforcement team uprooted all the flowers from their pots.
Kamugisha wonders why the mayor should be selfish towards the beautification and development of Kabale municipality for the future benefit of all its dwellers. He added that it expresses that the mayor has been among a section of people who have been destroying some of the flower pots and uprooting flowers as of the 80 flowers which were planted, atleast 47 of them were uprooted and around half of the flower pots were destroyed.
He also noted that Byamugisha has to removal his personal feelings and selfish targets if Kabale as a town and its people are to take on to better development levels.
However, when Byamugisha was contacted by our reporter about the above accusation, he said that it’s the mayor and his council members who plan and dictate on any designs needed and suitable for their town.
Byamugisha added that if Kamugisha cannot go by the plans of the municipal authority, he should extend his activities to other welcoming towns not Kabale. He said that he does not find any reasons of keeping dying trees in town and that the flowers were also planted and positioned before the council gazetted and allocated the current suitable places for trees.
